CrossFit and Overall Health

Does your doctor do CrossFit? If I had to guess, I would guess he or she does not. He or she may even warn you against it. Unfortunately, it seems as though the majority of doctors in our country are not well educated on fitness and nutrition and how they related to prevention and treatment of chronic disease, which is killing 7 out of 10 Americans these days. Because of the influence of insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies (both of which profit from your poor health and you staying sick, and they do not have a financial motivation to help you get well) doctors are educated in how to diagnose illness and then which prescription medication or surgery you need.

CrossFit HQ is currently developing a website specifically concerning Health and how to spread the message in the affiliates to the "every day" person. And here is the basic message: Eat a diet of meat, vegetables, nuts, and seeds, some fruit, little starch, and no sugar AND perform contantly varied, functional movements, and high intensity.

In the United States we spend the most money on healthcare and have some of the worst health outcomes. We don't typically die from infectious disease or accidents. Most of us are dying from diseases that could potentially be prevented or managed by changing our lifestyle. But again, big corporations don't profit from us eating unprocessed foods and exercising.

Check out the latest episode of the CrossFit Podcast to hear about a doctor who significantly changed his life when he changed his "low fat diet and prescription statin for high cholesterol" with the help of a CrossFit trainer, and who now prescribes the same diet and lifestyle to his patients.
